Athletes enter the St. Lucie River off the sandy white beaches of Club Med Sandpiper Bay, exiting the water adjacent to the Marina.

Club Med Sprint BIKE (12 Miles)

Our Bike Route begins when athletes exit the back gate of Club Med Sandpiper Bay

Club Med Sprint RUN (3 miles)

The Sprint Run will begin from transition and head out onto the Golf Course. Athletes will run on the cart path throughout the course, finishing their day in the heart of Club Med Sandpiper Bay.

Sunday (Olympic & Sprint)

  • 5:30 - 6:45 a.m. - Late Packet Pickup for Triathlon
  • 5:30 a.m. - Transition Opens for ALL events
  • 7:00 a.m. - Transition Closes for Olympic

Packet Pickup: (Triathlon)

PER USAT RULES - ALL TRIATHLETES MUST PICK UP THEIR OWN PACKET - NO EXCEPTIONS. All relay team members must be present in order to pick up a relay packet. All triathletes must present their annual USAT license at packet pickup along with a photo ID or fill out the one-day USAT form and pay $10 for a one-day license. Timing chips can only be picked up on race morning. 

  

Club Med Accommodations & Packages


Nightly Rates – single and double occupancy rates defined, includes room night, all meals at any of Club Med’s gourmet restaurants and all resort activities.
Athletes also have the option to purchase a Day Pass to experience Club Med.
Cost is $40.00 for adults & $20.00 for children, (Includes brunch & lunch as well as the ability to take advantage of all inclusive programming until 6:00 pm).

Categories & Awards

Athletes can only be registered under one of the categories below. For example, you cannot register for Clydesdale and age group at the same time.

Participants must select their category when they register.

Overall/Elite Category: - Triathlon Only

Professional Male and Female racers or amateur elite racers wishing to race head-to-head. Racers in this category only qualify for Overall awards.

Age Group Category

Male and Female Categories go in 5-year increments as follows:
15-19 / 20-24 / 25-29 / 30-34 / 35-39 / 40-44 / 45-49 / 50-54 / 55-59 / 60-64 / 65-69 / 70+
By USAT rules, athletes' age groups are determined by their age on December 31st of that year. You age up, not down, so that you don't change age groups in the middle of the year.

Clydesdale & Athena Category

Clydesdale 200 Under 39 (Men under 39 years old over 200 pounds)
Clydesdale 200 40+ (Men over 40 years old over 200 pounds)
Athena (Women over 150 pounds)

Fat Tire Category

This category is for those competing on bikes with a tire width of at least 1.5 inches and have no aero bars (i.e. Mountain Bikes). This category is intended for beginners and will include Male Fat Tire and Female Fat Tire overall categories, 1st – 3rd Place.

Relay Category (2 or 3 person teams)

Male Relay, Female Relay, Coed Relay; The same team members must be used for every race under the same team name to be eligible for series awards

First Timers

This category has been developed for athletes competing in their first triathlon.

Awards

Awards are given 3 deep in all categories. Special awards will be given to the Top 3 Overall Males, Top 3 Overall Females. Those receiving Overall Awards are removed from their age groups, bumping everyone else up in the age group standings. If you qualify for Overall, you cannot get another award for your age group. Pro-Elite participants only qualify for Overall Awards.

If you are not able to or forget to pick up your awards after a race you have several options:
   - E-mail us and let us know that you will be picking up your award at our next race and we will hold it for you.
   - Send a check (to address below) for $15 written to "ITA-USA" and a mailing address you would like us to send your award to.

Other Information

Race Numbers

There are three Race Numbers in your race packet that you are required to display during the event. TheBicycle Frame Number is the double number and should be wrapped around your seatpost or frame so that the number is visible from both sides of your bicycle. The Small Sticker is the helmet number and must be affixed to the front of your helmet. The Run Number must be displayed during the run segment on the front of your body.

Swim Cap

The swim cap placed in your race packet must be worn during the swim. Do not trade your swim cap with another athlete, as the caps are color coded to assist the Club Med Race Staff in organizing you into the correct wave at the swim start.

Body Marking

Your Race Number will be written on both your right and left upper arms, and your left calf. Your USAT age will be written on your right calf.

Dropping Out

Please notify a race official and return your timing chip at the finish line if you drop out of the race.

Bike Check-In

All bikes are checked in on race morning between 5:00 and 6:45 a.m., regardless of your wave start time. Transition needs to be clear 15 minutes prior to Race Start! DO NOT LEAVE VALUABLES IN TRANSITION – we are not responsible for lost articles.

Transition Security

Only registered racers that have been body marked and have their Race Number on them will be allowed to enter the transition area at any time, before, during, or after the race. NO FAMILY MEMBERS IN TRANSITION! This is for the protection of your equipment.

Wetsuit Rules


It is the Athlete's choice to wear wetsuits; wetsuits will not be allowed if the water temperature is above 78 degrees

Water temperatures will be posted and announced race morning.

Swim Gear Checklist:

Swimsuit, Goggles, Swim Cap (race will supply one),
Wetsuit (78 degrees or less water temp), Baby Powder – Body Glide (to help slide on wetsuit)

USAT Rules

All USAT rules are in effect. Go to www.usatriathlon.org for a complete list of USAT rules. Below are some of the most frequently violated rules:

  • Helmets are mandatory while riding the bike.
  • Helmet must be buckled or strapped on, failure to do so may result in disqualification.
  • Headphones are not allowed at any time.
  • No drafting will be allowed while on the bike.
  • Pass only on the left while on the bike.
  • No blocking - Stay to the Right side except when passing.
  • Do no cross the yellow line around corners on the bike.
  • Handlebar ends must be plugged to lessen the chance of injury, failure to do so may result in disqualification.

Refund and Transfer Policy

  • Refunds will be issued for medical reasons only and will be determined by the Race Director.
  • There are no person-to-person transfers.
  • If you are unable to compete in a race that you have signed up for in advance, you may take race credit for the amount you paid for the race minus the active.com fee. This credit can then be applied towards YOUR registration at any future event within the Series.
